The San Diego Renegades are a Senior A semi-pro travel hockey team made up of players from all walks of life—blue-collar grinders, college standouts, and purebred puck junkies who never lost the fire. Formerly known as the San Diego Super Hornets and San Diego Hockey Club, this isn’t just a rebrand—it’s a resurrection.
We are Renegades because we’ve always gone against the grain—the overlooked, the underestimated, the ones who kept showing up when no one else would. We’re a new program with an old-school edge—built by the players, for the players. No handouts. No shortcuts. Just raw, fast, aggressive hockey and a team-first culture that hits as hard as we play.

The Mountain Hockey League is a fast-growing Senior A circuit built for high-level competition, gritty rivalries, and unforgettable road trips. Spanning the western U.S., the league features teams from some of the most exciting hockey towns around—including Reno, Santa Rosa, Breckenridge, Bozeman and Las Vegas. Whether it’s battling in front of packed barns with over 1,500 fans in Reno or playing at altitude in Breckenridge with a mountain crowd that lives and breathes the game, every trip is a chance to experience real hockey energy. The league brings together former college players, junior standouts, and seasoned vets who play for the love of the game—and the chance to win in front of fans who care.

THE PHOENIX
We chose the Phoenix as our mascot because it perfectly reflects our story—after old doors closed, we found new purpose and set new goals to rise above it all. When our previous teams fell apart, we didn’t walk away—we reignited the fire ourselves. The Phoenix stands for rebirth and resilience, rising from the ashes stronger than before. It’s the symbol of a player-run organization built on effort, loyalty, and community.
